Bad Button behavior corrected! Yeah

So, I have 2 males that are very nasty. One is a severe toe picker to the point that I can't pair him up with anyone. The other male descalps anyone. The rest of my buttons have never displayed these problems. What do you do with these guys? They all have big cages and lots of food and water. I feed a 28% protien gamebird feed. I don't think it's there inviornment at all. They have just developed nasty beharior problems. Do you cull buttons? I can't sale them because of there issues. Anyone have suggestions?

I always though you were only suppose to keep buttons in pairs,but if there both bad cull both of them.

Sorry I forgot to mention that they were in pairs. I took thier females out because they started picking on them. After a couple of weeks I tried to re introduce them to new females, but that failed. So, they are all by themselves now. Not in the same cages in two separete ones. It's so hard to include all the details without forgetting something. haha

Is there an age difference between the ones you introduce them too?

The first pair they were with no, but the second yes by a couple of weeks, but they were all of breeding age. I got these males from a different breeder and they seemed to be more agressive then some others that I have got from different people. I guess some hatches can display diffent habbits than others with the exact same rearing. I just don't know what you do with bad buttons except keep them separate for the rest of thier lives. haha

I have had buttons for a while and thankfully I have had no major problems like this before. I was seeing what other button breeders or byc members do when they have males that are agressive like this?

Well I was able to succesfully pair them off. I had to put a male and female right next to eachother in the next cage, so they could see eachother. This stopped the new introduction fighting. As far as the toe picker, I used hay in the cage to brake up the sight of toes. So, problem solved!

I've never had toe pickers but it's good to know a possible solution to it.

Hi I have heard of toepickers with people who feed meal worms to their birds when they were young ,ive seen new born chicks pick at other chicks toes most of the time at a younger one or one with a bad foot .i have buttons i keep in my fight coop with my doves.they are the king of the ground.i dont like over agressive birds every body has to get along thats my rules and thats just me .i give away problem birds to people as pets and i tell them whats going on with them so they know.I find it best to always have a few aquariums about they serve as jails for bad birds.in my fight coop some pair up and then some dont.i have females that have never paired up that seem to be happy that way and then their are rouge males that want to jump every male birds girl..its a whole soap opera in there. i have never fed my birds meal worms they are kinda creepy to me but i do buy a bag of crickets and shake them out to let my buttons have a feast with them.
