Bad craigslist experience

I've had a lot of bad expierences on craiglist selling chickens... I think I just care about my birds too much. I am in the habit of dropping off birds now so I can see how well these people will take care my animals. If I show up and see a bunch of unhealthy chickens I tell them sorry and leave with the chickens I brought. I dont like people coming to my house to pick them up because you cant tell what kind of condition these people keep their animals in. I have driven hour and half to give a bird away for free, just to make sure it has a good home.

Dont trust anyone who says they want to adopt unwanted animals... they are the worst hoarders in my experience, they dont need any extra animals.

My ads on craigslist are pretty specific about the conditions I want the chickens to live in, to weed out animal abusers (especially cock fighters).. You get less calls but you get better quality callers. Higher prices also weed out problem buyers. Sotuhern California is a tough place to find good chicken owners.

I found 6 month old Red Stars on Craigslist in another town 47 miles away. My DH and I went and got them. Before we left, I took pics of my coop and run on my phone so I could show the lady that her birds were going to a good home. Then a couple of days later, I emailed her pics of the Red Stars out in my back yard, mingling with my other hens. She responded and was happy to hear that her birds were happy and loved in their new home.

I bought chickens off Craigslist and I am NOT a weirdo!!

I would just let them know right oof, not to let the kids run and chase the birds. Say, "it scares them". I would also NOT sell them anything. Make an excuse, tell the truth, whatever.
