hi its sheila cheers with a quick question! what would cause my hens to lay odd shaped thin eggs or the shells.?

Lack of calcium. Are they eating layer feed? You might want to provide some oyster shell free-choice to assure they are getting enough calcium.

The oyster shell is different from grit, so make sure you get the shell. They look similar in size and shape but the oyster shell is white. I bought mine at the local Tractor Supply.

Whether or not she needs more calcium depends on several other factors.
Like, first of all, what all and how exactly are you feeding?
Absorption and application of calcium needs other important nutritive ingredients as well.
Just throwing more calcium at them, or even suggesting it, is rarely a solution.
