Bad eye infection, swollen eye

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear about your hen. We had a similar thing happen. I had no luck with Antibiotics, yogurt, probiotic flushing or vetericyn. It took forever to find something that worked. I ended up finding a dilution online. Two Tablespoons of distilled water and just 4 drops of organic ACV (with the mother).

I would flush the eye daily and put 2-4 drops of the dilution in the eye twice a day. Within a few days the infection was gone. It looked better the very next day. It took me too long to figure this out and she ended up loosing the eye but she gets around fine and seems perfectly happy now with her one eye.
I'm not sure if this will work for you but it amazed me.

Good Luck
Did you try Baytril?

I agree with the vinegar solution.I would try that. I also had a chicken with an eye infection and I got a topical ointment from the feed store that cleared it right up. I forget the name but if you call your feed store they will know what it is. I think they use it for horses also. It was around 23 dollars. I was also told that you can use lemon juice in the eye but that sounded too harsh for me.

Yes I would . Keep in mind we're talking 4 drops ACV in two tablespoons of water. Then only 2 drops of that in the eye. The dilution is also recommended for human use as well. I doubt it felt great for her while it was happening but she didn't put up much of a fight or call out and she seemed to go back to life right after treatment. Many antibiotics strip the immune system and burn during application. There is rarely just one right answer. I would not do anything to my girls I wouldn't be willing to do to myself if needed. Well I wouldn't deworm myself or put in my own feeding tube without a Doctor but that's about it.
