Hello folks our chicken sunny started out with Bumblefoot, treated with warm bath for about 3 wks, removed abscess bottom, put neosporin, bandage then Sprayed generously with blue Kote. Days later her foot got Swollen, made small cut released little puss but seem bigger with color changes and severe limping.
Trying vetercyn , coconut oil now and warm footbaths and electrolytes in water drink but no changes.
Any input much appreciated God bless

Hello and welcome to BYC!:frow

As it seems, the infection has spread already and I would get her on an antibiotic treatment to stop the ascending infection.

The warm soaks in epsom salt water should be continued every day, but I would stop cutting into her foot and let the antibiotic and the warm soaks work for at least 10 days.

Then reassess the situation.

Hey there thanks 😊 for welcome and for awesome advice. Oh man i was afraid that it was the same Bumblefoot infection that spread. I’m getting chlorhexidine tomorrow to help with warm soaks but finances making little difficult to go to vet for antibiotics. Anything close to it that I can get over the counter in CA? Lord help our sunny praying for best. Appreciate you @LaFleche

Try TSC for antibiotics, maybe some fishmox or similar.

As I am not living in the U.S., I am not familiar with the current regulations of your state, but I know that for some states they have recently changed so it might be harder to get antibiotics over the counter.

But of course, you could always order some online.

I am guessing that the bandage was on too tight, since tape and vet wrap can slip and become tight, cutting off circulation. Hopefully, daily warm soak in Epsom salts will help to heal it. There may be some necrosis of the tissue. Bruising might also be part of it. Time will tell. Once out of the soak, apply some plain Neosporin ointment and no dressing. Let us know how she gets along. You can get Aqua Mox amoxicillin here, and dosage is 250mg given orally twice a day for a 5 pound chicken for 10 days.

Ok found some at tsc, aquamox? wow you sure know your stuff 😃 . Yeah others types are not easily accesible in CA 🇺🇸. I’ll order this 30ct right asap. Any other online alternatives recommend? Good to hear Homestead in Germany is alive and well 🫡 @lafl

Oh ok maybe right of tight wrapping . Yeah I’m not wrapping her anymore. ok ill rub neosporin after soaks too. Guess I’m just concerned on overall swelling and dark blood discoloration around and going into her nails.
