The swelling and purple color can be due to a tight bandage partially cutting off circulation. This same type of injury can happen with frostbite, and only time will tell how much or how little damage there is. The third picture down in this thread of frostbite reminds me of the picture of your chicken:

Yeah ouch that’s not good. Time will tell is right, keeping her solo and barefoot. Hopefully our sunny can keep all digits and Live and kick this infection sap . Will keep y’all updated

Update folks- been over a week with the antibiotics so think the dosage and coconut oil helping , she’s moving better than before but unfortunately that infection made her lose a nail

Thank you for the update.

Losing a nail will not impede her living a normal chicken life. I am glad she recovered.

foot still swollen and afraid to remove scabbing lest she walks again with open bleeding wounds. Her better movement gives hope but oh man don’t know if swelling going down or not

Ouch! That still does look very painful and inflamed. And it looks as if she not only lost a nail but also part of the toe.

Did you continue the daily foot soaks in warm epsom salt water?

For how long did you administer the antibiotics?
