Bad footsie folks any idea?

I would probably give her foot a rest for awhile and let it continue to heal. Does the top of the foot feel hard or squishy? If you can get a picture of the bottom of the foot that might help us advise you better. It sounds like she is doing as best as can be expected. I’m not sure that I would cut into the foot anymore, but I would be more conservative, and do some daily warm soaks. But I would probably need to see the bottom of the foot pad.

Top of her foot is hard and unable to bend and when pulling her Big toe to one side ,springs back to the other side seemingly staying crooked and possibly broken. Bottom foot pad is super swollen again with Hard center. Just seems kernel Under skin never really went away, which is what making me contemplate another deeper incision 😢

I probably wouldn’t at least not right now. She may have a lot of scar tissue from the circulation injury, and may well have problems in the future with this foot. Soaking the foot is a conservative treatment. It may help bring infection to the surface. I would suggest a drawing salve such as Prid or Betadine and sugar paste, but that would require a foot bandage, and that is definitely not something to do again.

Ok, If you look close last pix her toes are all really really swollen, not sure if bottom kernel is creating too much pressure affecting rest her toes /foot to turn stiff, bend maybe break bone? Looks like one already bent fractured , and possibly preventing her foot to recover better. Not sure

Swollen unable bend middle toes

Agreed. I think I would leave it alone and see how it goes. Daily soakings may be helpful, but if she were mine, I wouldn't intervene for a while and see if she can manage to get along like it is.

Update good people
Almost seem back square one good folks
Lord have mercy. She’s walking w limp foots still inflamed but can’t bend stiff toes and which appears broken from still decent moving around. And bottom foot still feel hard kernel never went away even after removing it after previously surfaced. Good thing is she’s eating well. Feels like My next best move is to start over go deeper with blade and attempt remove non surfaced hard kernel under foot.

Hi @Boxingrooster , you have already received stellar advice re no more surgery, but I may be able to further explain what you are seeing. The visible damage (hard rigid skin on top of foot, toes unable to bend, swelling, etc.) is due to residual damaged circulatory injuries in that foot, even though the initial injury occurred many weeks ago. Her immune system is fighting valiantly to heal the foot, but any healing is taking place underneath the outer rigid, inflexible, necrotic skin. The reason you were advised to do no more surgery is because at this point, cutting into the foot is much more likely to introduce infection rather than remove any that may or may not be present. Damaged skin should not be removed or cut into because it protects healing that is taking place underneath. The rigid, inflexible outer skin will very likely eventually slough off, hopefully revealing healthy, scaleless, new pink skin underneath. Sunny may also lose the remaining inflexible toes, but it remains to be seen if she will lose her foot, or if there is healthy tissue underneath the necrotic outer skin. Definitely continue with soothing Epsom salts soaks and keep your medications (including Vetericyn) handy. Also do your best to keep the foot clean and dry. (Except for Epsom salts soaks.) Though the outer damaged skin forms a protective barrier against bacteria, remaining healthy tissue will be vulnerable for a few days after necrotic damage sloughs/falls off, until Sunny's immune system forms a protective barrier over the newly exposed skin and tissue too.

Here is an article that may help you better understand the process Sunny's damaged foot is going through. It includes general information as well as the progression of visible damage and eventual healing. Though the article is specifically about frostbite injury, the visible progression of symptoms and appearance resulted due to damage to the circulatory system and can have many other causes too, including a too-tight protective bandage, a feedbag string becoming wrapped around a bird's foot, etc. The damage to the bird's feet within the article was catastrophic, and Sunny's injuries are hopefully not nearly as severe, but either way should lend you more understanding.

Just like the others already advised I would leave it alone.

No cutting or messing otherwise as you may hurt the foot even more in doing so. The remains of shriveled tendons and the scar tissue might feel like a kernel to you, but the foot looks quite good to me, better even than I would have expected.

So just try to prevent more frostbite during the upcoming winter season.
