Hello! I had a couple chicks hatch yesterday. One took an extremely long time to zip, but eventually hatched on his own. He’s been very weak the entire time but I left him in the incubator to rest. Unfortunately, the healthy chick took it upon himself to start eating the weak chick. The entire time, the chick has had his legs splayed out behind him and the healthy chick pecked open his leg so that much of the inside is exposed.
I quickly separated them when I got home from work. The second chick is talking a lot now and alert but it cannot walk at all and has a large open sore. What can I do to clean his wound? Can I treat him as if he has splayed leg? I don’t want to cause him anymore pain than he already has. Do I need to humanely euthanize him and how do I go about that?
