Bad moms!

I’d just leave the hens alone in their nesting boxes as long as they are staying on the eggs. Bothering them too much gets them highly frustrated. Separate all non-broody birds into a different coop (if you can) because I’m pretty sure they were the ones who went after the chick.
Ok will the chicks just stay in the nesting box?

Thats a picture of my coop . I can close the door to the run and keep the broody hens and the babies in the coop. I would have to put a waterer and food in there. The rooster and the non broody hen can sleep in the run awhile. There is a bar up high to roost on but Ive never seen them do it.

Put a shallow, heavy dish (pyrex type of dish works well due to the weight) of water on floor in area that they'll be locked in to, and fill it about 1/2 inch of water. Put another dish in there with chick starter or ground up all flock feed. That should cover the mother's needs for a day or two; the babies themselves are good for a couple days without food or water due to their absorption of the yolk when they hatched. I wouldn't expect the momma to bring them out of the nesting box for several days, so a couple feet isn't gonna be as drastic as you're currently imagining :p Might want to put some clean wood chips or sand, or rice husks, or...straw, or whatever you use for floor covering in the coop into a small pile near the anticipated landing site for when momma finally does bring them out. Those little squirts pretty near bounce when they hit the ground the first couple times :D Breathe deeply. It's gonna be fine!

Oh that's tiny. You might need a bigger set up. I use those for just one Momma.

Its the largest ive seen for sale. The run is 4' x 8' and the roof is about 5' tall. I can move around inside and Im a 6' 250# man. Might be because i took the picture from up on my deck far away. I can probably crawl into the coop if I wanted to(which I dont lol). Let me get a picture of my nests

A view of the luxurious interior. See how the nesting box is up off the floor of the coop.

Dad and the non brooder chick peckers

So should I move the hens from the boxes down to the floor of the coop? Will they sit on eggs there?
