Bad News to Bear... :(

I was surprised by how sad it made me to hear about Monkey. I truly enjoyed the pictures of the two of them and even dragged my husband to the computer to look. Some cats are impossible to keep in. Sorry about your loss.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Chikky,

I know, that was kind of our thought. I wanted him safe, but when he was inside for too long, he'd start to cry at the doors and windows and bolt every chance he got, so we just wound up letting him go out. I didn't want to see him unhappy either. At least I know that he died doing what he loved. I'd like to think he's somewhere with my other furbabies who ran out of time here with me.

So sorry to hear about your lovely cat. It must be devastating for you.

Strange thing, is you are the third person I know of who has had a tabby cat named Monkey, and who has died in the past year. Must be a popular name for tabby cats, and perhaps they are unusually adventurous!

I hope you take comfort in the fact that you let him be the cat he wanted to be, and that he was very happy.

Aww thank you guys! I feel better just reading this.

ejctm,

That's crazy! I've never met another cat named Monkey, it's nice to know they're out there. We named him that because he was an insane kitten. He would run around and leap on things like a Spider monkey lol. He was a sweet cat....just couldn't take that wild spirit out of him.

I keep thinking about my poor duck who lost his buddy. At least I probably feel worse for him than he actually feels.

We stopped trying to keep our tabby, Rowdy, in after the second time he jumped off a 2nd story balcony to get out. Some cats just insist on being indoor/outdoor cats.

I know you will miss your Monkey and agree with the poster who wrote that at least Monkey had a wonderful owner! Hugs!
