Bad year for ticks???

I hope they use a tick product on him and be sure to check yourself if you hold him. I am not used to having outside cats as all of mine are indoor only but these three adopted us when their owner went to prison, and they are farm cats. I feel as though I HAVE to get them inside at night even though they protest because we have such a large coyote population here. I may have to start putting them in the garage at night though if they are going to bring me ticks.

I have one side of the garage set up for the cats with beds and a cat tree and carpet and they don't mind going in there.

AWFUL year for ticks.

I live in an apartment complex near some woods. So far, to date, I have picked off 7 of them on me this week alone. Vida, the Shih Tzu has this issue of she HAS to hide in tall grass in order to poop. Can she poop on the nice level ground? Nope. Gotta be in the grass as tall as she is.

I shaved her this week and applied flea and tick spray. After going back to OK for a night...I have found yet another 3. I am not happy.

Funny Vida! She likes her privacy!
We have lived here 5 yrs and this is the first time I have seen ticks! It's totally crazy!! You might want to change her flea and tick treatment but don't over dose her on it. Good luck.

You know.........those Guineas are sounding better and better to me!

Let's see.....I would need one for the upstairs.....one for the downstairs....one for the garage........and at least a dozen for the yard!

I just wish they came in a quiet variety though.

I always have to put a FRESH dose of Frontline on my dogs before we visit my parents' house. I keep telling them that they need at least a couple doz chickens (I'm not too keen on the noisiness of Guineas)
We never have any tick problems at home --- could be because we are in the city and there are less woodsy areas, but I credit the chickens.

I've personally never had good luck with Frontline on cats, we use Advantage instead but it doesn't treat for ticks. I think Revolution (if that's the right name) is what my vet would recommend for tick control on cats.

Personally I think frontline is a terrible product. It just doesn't do the job. The only advantage is that's it's water proof. YEAH RIGHT!I use Proticall on my dogs because not only does it repel ticks and fleas but it also serves as a repellant to mosquitos, mites and lice. However Proticall changed it's dosage instructions a few years back and I think it's just a marketing scheme to sell more product. They doubled the application dose and seeing as how I had already been using the product for years and it worked properly, I saw no need to follow the new instructions.
Revolution is a good product for cats. Covers fleas, ticks, earmites, and 2 kinds of intestinal parasites. By far, it's a much more effective product than Frontline. If your vet doesn't carry it have a script written and you can get it online.
