BADLY cracked egg on Day 18/21

Starting to get worried. Havent seen movement since early this morning. The egg is cracked on the side where the air cell is. Wondering if she is pipped into the air cell (its time for her to be) and has no air

In a little bit, I will set up an emergency intervention and see if she needs help. Hopefully its not too late

ETA felt her heartbeat, she is fine, air cell is intact!!

She's chirping!!!! Shes a very talkative baby!
Not sure if she's pipped but that's going to be easier on her than normal cause her shell is already cracked. Hopefully she doesn't decide to come out while I'm in Charlotte cause I would hate to miss her hatching.

Medical paper tape works well too. The chick can also break it on its own so it doesn't interfer with hatching.

She is doing great!! She is still absorbing a little yolk but is SO ready to come out to play. Her Serama sister got abandoned by mom (shes a young pullet and probably is just confused) so they are both in the bator together. The Serama is pipped (approx 6:30 this morning) and is taking a long siesta to rest up for hatching time LOL

Checked on the Serama (just had a bad feeling) and the little chick, now named Eggbert, was dead. Dont know what happened but sometime after pipping, he passed away

The cracked egg baby is still alive and absorbing yolk

Cracked egg baby passed away too. This is very very upsetting.... two babies that were within hours of hatching... Now they're gone.

Thank you, all of you, for being so supportive and sending your hatching prayers my way. Apparently it just wasn't in the cards for me, or them, right now. They are over the Rainbow Bridge now with Emilio and the other babies I have lost.

Hopefully you will still have lots of other baby chicks to keep you occupied.
