Has anyone considered using live mice as bait to trap weasels. For the first time in 60 years, I've developed a severe weasel problem and I'm fashioning several types of weasel traps but they don't like dead things.

But that's not true. They like dead things...as long as they are cached dead things, they like them just fine. Putting fresh dead things in a trap is not going to attract weasels, but putting the fresh ( or semi fresh) corpses of animals they just killed in a trap is going to keep them coming back. Weasels are not smart or savvy predators. They are creatures of habit, like so many predators. If they made a kill, then put the remnants in your trap and wait. Your murderer will be back shortly to collect the rest of its kill. If you are opting to proactively trap then live bait is probably your best option. Because, as you said, weasels don't like dead bait.. unless it is bait they made dead themselves.

Thanks.
I'm awaiting a call from the conservation department since they're out of season, they want to talk to me before I do anything.
