Agree with Kiki rooster needs to leave pronto. A rooster can handle 10 hens, any less and they tend to get overbred and damaged. The hens that can't hide & avoid him will have the most missing feathers & sore areas.

Unless you need a rooster for fertile eggs to sell or hatch, the girls will be MUCH happier without one. They will lay the same amount of eggs albeit infertile ones.

Thanks! I didn't know that but makes sense. That was the first thing I told my husband. But he thinks they will go and lay at the neighbors ( who has a pen w a rooster through the woods) of course we could keep them cooped but we like them for bug control. The rooster has attacked me once already! Id definitely prefer him gone!
