Bald Eagle Predation

I'm sorry that you're having trouble too. Well, maybe we'll find some solutions in this thread. I guess I'll use woven wire fencing for the roof. I wasn't thinking about using something that substantial at first, but it sounds like that's the best idea. (Ugh...gonna be heavy lifting. Hubby will not be pleased.

Thank you for your suggestions. I didn't really see the advantage of fishing line but your explanation helps a lot. I think the radio is a good idea as well. Maybe I'll put a radio in the scarecrows that I'm dreaming up. Honestly, I'd love a REALLY LOUD recording of the '1812 Overture' that would start playing when birds cruised overhead.

So, the geese are probably full grown by now. Do they still follow the dog? That could be pretty awkward at the pet door, lol. Seriously though, did your friend have trouble with adult geese being attacked? I have a gaggle of 12 geese and I'm worried about them too.

I hate to say it, but there are rats on the property already....would I throw the rats in the air under the eagle? (just kidding, lol)

Trap them and stake them out alive the birds will find them

I have lots of eagles around me. In fact, I was watching 2 of them yesterday floating on high. I never fail to get a thrill watching them.

I dont know that Ive lost any birds to them. Hawks yes, eagles...I just dont know. Only time Ive ever seen them close was when I threw a dead raccoon out back, and there was an eagle with the vultures. In fact, Ive driven up to a stop sign, and seen an eagle on the ground eating roadkill. Im near a very large lake that has a lot of eagles, so they probably would rather fish than get chicken.

I suppose you could buy some annoying white roosters and put them out. The raptors usually go for the white ones... call them "feeder chickens".

Technically they are a scavenger but are opportunists also.

The bald eagle around here was eating our koi and our chickens.
