Bald eagle tried to eat one of my hens

What area of Seattle are you in? We are in Columbia City and have seen a hawk and racoon here or there--which concern us enough--but I never thought to worry about Eagles too...yikes! Our girls free range in our fenced backyard but now I'm a bit worried.

My neighbors let their chickens free range, but I've grown so attached to my girls that I'm terrified of losing one! My DH is the animal control officer for the city and says they get reports of missing small dogs and cats A LOT these days. Between the coyotes and eagles, small pets are on the decline!

I don't think bald eagles are nearly as cool as I did a couple of days ago.

This morning Roz is acting normally in every way. I think if she had internal bleeding, she'd be getting weaker by now. I'll keep dousing her with iodine solution to prevent infection. If I can prevent that, I think she'll be fine.

Wow! Sad for your chickie baby, but I LOVE bald eagles, and you actually got to chase one! Way to go!
