BALD EAGLES NESTING ON MY PROPERTY

Learning about the eagles also inspired me to volunteer at the nature center in the area which cares for rescued birds of prey that would be unable to survive if released back in the wild. Here is a photo of a Saw Whet Owl named Mr. Bean. You can see how small he is compared to the oak leaf.

Aww I love it!!

Great pics of the Eagles and owl! We have so many Baldies around here. Any which way I drive I am guaranteed to see at least three pairs. We have a few residential pairs that even wintered over here. Most I see nowadays are around to feast on the migrating ducks and geese.

Thanks. Around here in the Midwest, Bald Eagles are not as common. I did not even see one in the wild until I was in my thirties, because the population had decreased so much due to DDT. And I lived in the suburbs of Chicago where they are still not common. Fortunately, the population has recovered quite well after DDT was banned and conservation efforts were made.

I saw my first in 2009.... on the James River in Richmond, VA (was visiting some relatives), and I was mesmerized! Now I live in S. Oregon and I think we have one of, if not the highest concentration of Baldies in all the States (or possibly the 'continental' States). And still, they are breathtaking, and I do not take it for granted.

Your eagle pics are amazing. We live a couple miles from the Missouri River in NE- we see eagles there when we go camping but never by our house. This spring we did see one flying along the creek near our home. I told my husband & he said they're probably hunting my chickens :-(. Luckily they're all safe & we haven't seen that eagle again. They are gorgeous tho
