Bamboo question

Not sure where this post goes but since my chicks will probably be eating this since it's close to their run--I posted it here. Just wondered if bamboo (all of the bamboo--leaves, stalk and roots) are fine for chicks to eat and peck on. Like I said their run has some in and around it and it is providing some shade for them too???I checked on the list that was provided earlier by someone here on BYC and it was not on the list for good or bad..

People eat bamboo, so I doubt that it will hurt chicks.

I would be interested if anyone knows for sure about this. I'm looking for something fast growing for one side of the run that could help provide shade.

I have a tractor in an area infested with bamboo (the runner sort). The chickens eat the new leaves and seem to enjoy it without harm, though of course they're not able to reach the taller bamboo.

We also have some invasive bamboo in our yard that the girls regularly peck at. So far no problems with that...
