i read somewhere right here that bananas are bad for chickens... but my birds love them... and i always have a bunch of bananas extra that my kids don't eat... i don't like them going bad all the time...

why is it bad..? what happens...¿

thx...

I just gave mine a few this morning. Maybe it's the peel part that's bad for them? I'm not sure but I always take the peel off first.

I feed bananas to my hens all the time. They love them. I don't give them the peel, because they don't like it and leave it to rot. I found this link helpful....https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=2593-Treats_Chart
Not sure if I posted the link right.

Hope it works, and hope it helps...

Bananas are a healthy food and chickens are omnivores, scavengers, and opportunistic feeders.

thanks guys... whew... i was limiting their bananas lately... thanks guys... gonna go give them some 'nanas and strawberries... woo hoo...

Bananas are radioactive. But that is actually a good thing believe it or not. The potassium in them set off Geiger counters at the shipping docks.
