Banded Pigeon wounded. Questions

I have a Pigeon with a band on it's leg. It has been wounded. Lost it's tail feathers. It lets me get close but can't catch him. I would like to read the numbers on the band to try and find it's owner. My cats are trying to get him. He can fly to the top of the well house to escape the cats. ANy ideas on what to do for him? Near Stephenville Tx\\.

I would keep trying to catch it,if you can get the numbers off the band you can find the owner,i would also put some food out for it,it will be hungry.This is the time of year for old bird races and it probably was hit by a hawk.
