Hello! Newbie here. I bought 6 pullets Wednesday from Atwoods and thankfully all has gone well so far. I have a large tote I turned into a brooder set out in my coop, with a wire top so my lone hen and they can meet each other. So far so good. And yes, they are messy little boogers. lol

My question is this: since these are pullets, they are banded. What do we do with the bands? Clip them off? I've no clue so any help is appreciated.

Just clip them off if you don't need them marked. If you do want them marked (i.e. all same breed and you want to be able to easily recognize them) then you need to keep an eye on the bands and replace them as the birds grow.

They are wing bands. I know 3 are Red Sex Link. Hoping the other 3 are Buff Orpington. That's all that was in the tub I bought them from. The second 3 don't really have stripes like the first 3, so I'm hoping they are Orpintons.

How do I take off the bands? Just snip them carefully with scissors? Something else?

Wing bands do not need to be removed, and I am not sure how you would remove them. Are they metal? Remove carefully if you do decide to. I assume you would need to use something like a diagonal cutter. But they can be left on for life. They grow with the bird. If you do want to take them off, do it now since the smaller the chicken is, the more space there should be in the band (space is there for growth).
