Bantam BBS Orp Eggs - TN ((SOLD))

Yes only the blue hen can produce blues. They share the same nest box, but before I added the nest box, they laid seperately and she laid fewer eggs than the black one, so I would predict that you would get more blacks.

If you wait a couple months, my splash hen should be laying too and then you could get blue, black or splash.
Let me know if you would like to wait a while or if you want to just get some as soon as possible.

Im an impatient person so id like them now. I would like to order more when you splash starts laying though. I am sending a check off tommarow for my bator so ill have it in plenty of time. On the 1588 Genesis do i just add water and plug it up and its good to go or does it have to run for a while? Also when you ship eggs do they come to my house or do i pick them at hte post office?

I asked this question on a bantam forum and someone said:

males: 32 to 36 ounces
Females: 28 to 32 ounces

so the standards say

I think with any 'bator you need to have it up and running and staying at a stable temp and humidity a few days before you put your eggs in. Initially when you put your eggs in, temp and humidity will change, but let it sit for 24 hours without opening, then start tweaking temp and humidity if needed.

The temp outside the 'bator can really affect it, so you will need to keep a close eye on it all the time.

You still want them at the end of Feb. right?

Yes, i still do. Pencil me in for another batch when your splash starts laying well also please

. I did read on the blue genes adn it seems the black x blue produces 50% blue with 25% splash and 25% black. Not bad odds huh. I got a new hen laying well so i may try to incubate a few eggs of hers here soon to try it out. But i havent seen my boys play with her yet. In fact I got them last febuary or march and they still havent crowed once.

EDIT: Just relized I could buy a dozen fertile eggs off my neighbors for like 2$ to try them out.

Thats a great idea to get the test eggs first!

I am not much on the genetics, and I am sure glad to know that I was wrong about the Black X Blue! I had looked it up before and guess I forgot. Thanks!

Black x blue will only produce blue and black. A black can't produce a splash.

Maybe this chart will help answer a few questions. Wish I could remember where I got it!

Blue x Blue = 25% Black 50% Blue 25% Splash

Black x Blue = 50% Black 50% Blue

Black x Splash =100% Blue

Blue x Splash = 50% Blue 50% Splash

Splash x Splash = 100% Splash

Black x Black = 100% Black
