I got a single bantam chick from assortment at farm store, (to be a buddy for an orphan Spitzhauben I hatched last week from late hatching egg that hen abandoned. Sadly hen would not accept her baby, wanted to kill it. So poor little orphan was alone, crying in a brooder.) Anyway, this dainty little banty is an orange color with black spot on head. Clean legged. Maybe 6-7 days old (?), probably older than my orphan Spitz, who is 4 days. I guess they are both orphans, now best buddies. What a contrast their lives are to the siblings out with mama! Thanks for replies!

I was thinking black tailed buff Japanese but the legs aren’t yellow, might be a black tailed buff old English game.

It's probably more likely to get an OEGB at a feed store...

Here's a pic from today--now 5-6 weeks old....I call it Rusty. Still very tiny. Single comb. Very docile.

here it is with the Spitzhauben, for size comparison:

Could be a nankin bantam
I just found out my store gets their chicks from Ideal, and Ideal does indeed sell Nankins, both single comb and rose comb) and the chicks look like mine w the black dot on head! None of their other bantam breeds fit...
