Bantam chick injured by other chicks

Would it be risky to put him back into the brooder with his siblings or should i keep him seperated for a little longer?

If it were my chick, I would wait another day or two to see what happens with the comb. Also before you put him back, make sure you've eliminated any smell of blood from the prior injury. Might be a good time to do a little bath.

I'll try my best, he's still very squirmy being held. Another day or two and I'll attempt it, thank you!

I assume most of the damage was the head- so unless he was really bleeding (i.e. blood hit other parts of the body), the head is probably the most likely blood residue. You could try part of a cotton ball wrapped around the head of a qtip, moistened- keep going over the area with fresh ones until they come back with no color/debris -- as opposed to trying to wash in a sink under running water.

I'd do a quick chick burrito with a hand-towel or washcloth (depends on his size) --- just make sure he can breathe!!! --- and then run the wet/moistened cotton ball and/or qtip combo over him until they come back clean. You can also smell them/him and see if you pick up that iron smell from leftover blood or not.

If you have Vetricyn- once it comes up clean- soak a qtip with the Vetricyn and roll it over those same areas - one last smell-blocker.

With the comb being a different color, I would worry a little that the other babies will peck at them- so if they haven't fallen off- when you do try to reintegrate, be sure you've got a good 15-20 minutes to watch them together - and can be in earshot in case they go after him.

Do you have a way to put him in a separate cage within the coop or brooder so he can see the others? If that's possible, then that would be a good way to re-introduce him. Since he has been separated, he will likely be viewed as a stranger and have to be integrated.

The dead part of his comb fell off sometime yesterday! Im going to wait another day with him seperated. Hes been in a cage right next to his siblings for a few days, they can see each other so hopefully when i put him back in he won't get beat up again. He's also grown a little since i first separated him so hopefully now he can fight back a little instead of just taking it. The comb came off on its own and didn't bleed at all, it looks like it was never there. He just has maybe 2 and half points of comb left, he's going to look really silly lol but other that, he looks totally fine, like nothing had ever happened to him

Nice! That's great news. Do you have one or two that are on the mellow friendlier side that you might put in his cage with him? If he can be reintroduced with a friend (and it's great that they've all been able to see each other the whole time) - that might make the reintroduction easier.

Actually- even better- can you put them all in their new area outside (I think is what I remember from a previous post) --- then nobody has "home-turf" advantage and everyone's distracted by the new surroundings? I'd still see if you can find him a friend or two now that there's no blood involved, but I bet the new space would help start with a clean slate (with lots of supervision).

So... i tried to put them all into a neutral place to reintroduce everyone and immediately i found out who the problem was. The other male chick, as soon as he was in the cage, started to bump chests and get aggressive. I know what they look like when playing and it definitely wasnt playing or anythig else. So i went with the other option and just settled with giving him two friends for now. I really don't know what to do with this other male... im scared that hes too aggressive to even put him with the rest of the flock when the time comes.
