Ancona came from a barnyard mix. Most of my silkies came from Hoover's Hatchery, they sell original Chinese silkies. They label them as bantams, like most hatcheries do. One distinctive feature of original Chinese Silkie Bloodline is the larger comb, & over all size.Where did you get your silkies and ancona bantam?
That's great....I suppose she was vary old and slow . At least Her chicks are healthy .
Interesting that you were able to get an ancona bantam from a barnyard mix. Never heard of Chinese silkies. Silkies came from China, so wouldn't all of them be Chinese silkies?Ancona came from a barnyard mix. Most of my silkies came from Hoover's Hatchery, they sell original Chinese silkies. Colored varieties except for black are mixed with different chicken breeds. They still have some original genes, but are no longer pure Silkie. They're mixed breeds with silkie characteristics, pretty much.Interesting that you were able to get an ancona bantam from a barnyard mix. Never heard of Chinese silkies. Really? Where'd you learn this?Colored varieties except for black are mixed with different chicken breeds. They still have some original genes, but are no longer pure Silkie. They're mixed breeds with silkie characteristics, pretty much.
Pure lines are black, or white, larger size, occasional red combs, face, & wattles. Also have black skin, meat, & bones. There's also a separate variety of silkie that has pink skin, are bantam sized, & Has white fluff. They're called Siamese Silkies chickens.
It should be a pullet.View attachment 1931654 @Brahma Chicken5000
