Well I found out we all are right in a sense about the Silkie.
Two varieties of Silkies. Standard and Bantam. Most standard come from hatchery stock without beards. Bantam are generally bearded with excessive soft fluffy feathers and small with compact bodies. Ornamental Silkie are small. Meat Silkies are larger but should still have many of the traits of the Bantams.

Yeah, that's basically what I've been saying. Large fowl Silkies come from hatcheries not because they're some special bloodline, but because of poor breeding. The lack of beards in combination with size discrepancies and other missing Silkie traits tells you as much.

Here's an older picture of an OEGB Cockerel we have. His name is Blue, & his crow cuts off at the end like a Red JungleFowl rooster does.

Wow, that's a handsome dude! :love Is he a Blue Golden Duckwing mix? I really want to get my hand on some of those to cross into my Fawns!! :love

I think that crowing thing is a common OEGB trait. All of my OEGBs except one have very shortened crows, and the one that doesn't still crows shorter than my other roosters. :p They do more of an 'a-doo-dle' than a 'cock-a-doodle-doo'. Makes me giggle every time. :gig

Ancona bantam?! :love :love What's her personality like? My LF Ancona is so meek and gets picked on by the other birds a lot, but she's so pretty... :love I'd love to get bantams, but only if they're a bit less prone to being bullied.

Sorry the link didn't work for you.

Blue is Crowwing, not duckwing.

PipSqueak is sassy, & likes bossing my Red JungleFowl around. She'll be laying eggs soon.

Oh. Yeah, I see that now! He looked like a blue with gold or golden leakage at first, which is why I wondered if he was mixed color. :p

Good to know on the Ancona bantam! :) I'll be interested to see if her eggs are as white as the LF Anconas are. I know sometimes the color can be a little different between varieties (like my LF Cochins lay darker brown eggs than my bantam Cochins, etc.).

Wasn't able to get pictures today.

I will post pictures of her egg when she lays it. Should be any week, or a few days from now.
