Bantam Cochin rooster?

Thanks everyone! Now I have a pretty good idea of how friendly they are.

I can't wait to see them!

Not sure if I'm going to get a blue, splash, or buff...

Any ideas of names? I was thinking of Peanut, if I got a buff one.

We have a bantam Cochin soon to be rooster. He actually just attempted to crow yesterday. He is the sweetest thing I have ever met. He snuggles under my shirt and goes to sleep. When he hasn't seen me in awhile, he will greet me just like our dogs do. He is almost three months now and he still fits in my palm. I hope he doesn't grow to much more, I just love toting him around. My mom takes him to the nursing home to visit the residents and to church to visit the children. He loves it

He just rides along in the car without any complaint. Actually, that is where he attempted his first crow yesterday

Before him, we had a standard Cochin/Brahma roo. He was also the tamest, sweetest thing. I would definetly recomend getting one. I have never heard anyone on this site say anything bad about Cochins. Here is a picture of our little Jerry Seinfeld.

Yea, I was in the feed store and saw his sister all sad and filthy and missing two toes

and decided to rescue her, so I got him too so she wouldn't be lonely. Sadly, she dissapeared a few weeks ago, so he has had to learn to mingle with all the standard girls. He is the only bantam now and looks so funny with all these giant hens

I wonder if they will even give him the time of day once he turns into an actual rooster

awww...

It's awful the way some chicks are treated at feed stores...a lot of them don't have proper care and they are really dirty and sick.

But anyway, we also only have 1 Bantam Cochin in our flock(until we get the rooster). She's a buff, and looks a lot like the one in the picture you posted.

She's really sweet and loves to be cuddled; but she also looks funny with the two big Buff Orpington pullets and our big standard splash Cochin rooster.

But her best friend right now is an EE(or Ameraucana) pullet named Raven, who is a little bigger, but is way smaller than the buffs and the rooster. Since both of them are small, and they were raised together, they get along really well.

Aww, I think if we had more room we would have 100 Cochins. I love them so much. They just look too funny with all of their feathers. I think they are the Golden Retriever of the chicken world

LOL they always reminded me of a Chihuahua because they are so small.

Maybe a Chihuahua/Golden Retriever mix?

I love my cochin roo.. he can be picked up and snuggled....really how can you resist...although he gets a look that seems to say "aww mom not in front of my friends" hehe.....and he's the only one that will willingly hang out with my BB tom turkey.....they look ridiculous together free ranging!

My Bantam Cochin is named Caesar and my Bantam Brahma is named Brutus......obviously I wasn't sure how they would get along at first as revealed by the name choice hehe....but they get along fine.

Does anyone have any experience with bantam cochin roosters? we're new to chicken raising and my husband wants and thinks we need a rooster for protection for the flock. Do they crow often and loudly as a regular sized rooster? We're on 16 agricultural acres but do have a neighborhood on one side and don't want bother them.
