BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I posted this on the em emergency page and nobody really responded. I have a chick Who has been the same way for the last week. He will eat and drink and run around a little bit but is not as active as my others. He has to often take breaks seems like he is napping and gasping for breath. I did some research and it sounds like subcutaneous Emphysema but I do not see a air sac swollen anywhere. He makes a crackling noises when he breathes. Any ideas. I keep thinking he was going to die but he hasn't any idea on if he'll outgrow this. Also I worry about his slightly curved beak
Chicks can get brooder pneumonia, or aspergillis, which is caused by mold, there's no treatment only prevention, so keeping the brooder clean and dry is important as well as making sure there's a good exchange of air. Chickens don't do well being closed up and kept too warm even chicks.

You can no longer buy antibiotics over the counter, so your only choices are do nothing and hope it is a slight respiratory problem, and that it will improve, or find a vet.

Thank you for your response, the brooder is opensided but no breeze. It's still staying around 90 degrees, maybe I'll decrease the temp a little and see if that helps. I'll have to see what vet I have local for antibiotics

Calichicken2015 I will be gathering up your eggs this weekend. Thought you might like to see some pictures I took today of some of the flock your eggs will be coming from. These pictures are of the ones that are still laying and have not gone Broody like so many of them have. I know it is a picture overload but it is hard to get them all in one picture when they are all over the place and moving as well.

Thank you! I am glad the kids are looking forward to hatching them. That makes it worth gathering the eggs for you, so the kids can have the adventure of watching them hatch etc.
