I love bantam cochins!!! One of my favorite breeds. I have two self blue roos, 1 blue hen, and 1 mottled hen. These are just pet quality, but I plan on breeding in the future!!

I have 13 Cochin bantam chicks (two are self blues) and only four are girls. All the blue ones are boys!

I love my white Cochin hen, but I bet the more mottled colored ones sell better.

I really love the blues too. I know someone who used to have Blue Mottled's but I don't think they have them anymore... I'll have to check. As for the question on which colors sell best I'd say either the more rare ones or the colors that show people like working with best (like the more common ones). Colors I've seen getting more popular are the ones that have been "created" recently. Like the Blue Mottle, Lemon Cuckoo, and Calico. All those neat colors!

Alright, I'm looking for the genetics people here! How would you go about making a Blue Mottled? Do you simply put blues and mottleds together? It seems like it should be that simple... but I know it wont be

Are Bantam Cochins and Pekins the same thing? I'm going to pick up my first Pekins/Bantam Cochins on Sunday from a local breeder.
