Hi everyone!!! Hope you don't mind if I join your thread!!! I have a Black Cochin Bantam named Peep (the students in my classroom named her...LOL)! She is back and forth right now on going broody...if she decides to go full broody, I am going to let her hatch some bantam cochin eggs! So excited

She was a "surprise" from one of my classroom hatches...fell in love and HAD to keep her!!

This is Frodo! I got her as a hatchling; I was picking up hay at a locale feed store, and a old woman came from the road, half running up to the store owner, crying with an itty-bitty chick in he hands.

Apparently, the feed store's large Black Bantam Cochin flock that lived in the woods behind the store, had been hatching out clutches, and one hen had taken them out to eat, then ran away from the road, leaving one behind on the road, still wet from hatching.

The store owner took the chick from the woman, then asked me if I wanted it, I of course said, "Yes please!" and he gave her to me, I tucked her in my shirt to keep her warm. My chicks at home were to big for her to stay with, so I kept her with me 24/7 so she wouldn't be lonely, and since then, she's been the sweetest chicken I've ever had/met, she loves being held, pet, and will sit on my shoulder or hand for as long as I let her! :D
