Dixies babies hatched! Coldest day in 2 weeks! She left 3 in the nest, one was still drying one just wandering trying to find mama, one too cold to move!.

In my lap now...with a heating pad on low... Emergency brooder warming up...she has 11 with her so I may keep these 3 inside...

Oh good luck with them...I was gonna say poor babies..but they are lucky cause they have you!

First two are of Smoke my rooster.
Second is Hen Elizabeth III D'uccle/Cochin.
Last adds an Orpington (lying down), Hencess Leia, and a mix with some Cochin in her (far left), Cheeks. Named so because she has the cheek tufts like you see on the Easteregger/Amreicanas.
Have two more hens that are broody at the moment, one blue and black Cochin (almost a laced pattern), Henryetta, and (I was told she is a Nankin) Butterscotch.

Also, have a trio of standard Cochins and one other bantam I was told is Smoke's full brother, who is separated at the moment awaiting sale.

apparently! Lol he's good at it...they're both very young...she just started laying the end of February...of the 20 eggs, 6 I incubated, 14 she hatched...we only lost the one chick that I can only guess got too cold, there was no external signs of defect...so very fertile pair!

Hello everyone. At the start of yesterday I had 3 cute, cuddly and sweet Bantams. But sadly I lost my Bluebell yesterday afternoon. Not sure what happened but at least I was holding her wrapped up and loved as she took her last breath. Man never knew that a 6 days old chick should make me cry for hours.
