Can anyone tell me the what the Standard of Perfection is for Cochin Bantams? My daughter has 2 and is wanting to take them in 4H this year but I honestly don't know that the standard is for the breed to even know if she can or not. Thank you!

Hello everyone,

I just gave my friend a trio of white cochin bantams that I purchased during a poultry show in WA and she would like a few more of either the red or blue (or both) varieties. Does anyone know someone with some hatching eggs that I could purchase for her (reasonably priced). My little incubator can hold only 12 bantam eggs. She has some learning disabilites and has taken an interest in the little chickens and would like to go to a few shows next year with me. She feels it would give her something to do now that her husband has gone to assisted living. Thank you for any information.

1 are they broody
2 how often do they go broody
3 how often do they lay

I have never gotten Cochins from Murray McMurray but I have gotten other breeds from them (including bantams). From what I know all bantam Cochins are likely to go broody (I've got one now) they will mostly go broody in the spring or around the time they were born (mine went broody Dec 31 and I have no idea when she was hatched) they lay about 4 or 5 days a week, I only knew one Cochin rooster, he was a friends, he didn't try to attack people but he did get into fights with a few other roosters she had.
Hope this is helpful! Cochins are so sweet and fluffy I am hopefully getting some Cochin chicks to stick under my broody

I have 1 cochin rooster and he is so friendly! Still only 9 weeks old but very sweet and not at all aggressive! He is my current profile picture and this is him now his name is Backpack
