Bantam Duck Page

I just got my first trio of gray calls a few weeks ago at a show. The breeder took Champion Waterfowl and Reserve Champion Waterfowl with some of their other calls. My son is going to show them next month!

I think several people here have BEI. I have had them before and they were my least favorite ducks, as mine were very unfriendly. I don't know though if that was a breed thing or just something with that particular strain. I have considered raising them again simply because they are so beautiful. I have wondered too if mine were just from a less friendly strain since several people here have liked theirs.

I had a pair and they would follow myself and my children all over. Very sweet birds. Then, we built a new coop and hadn't put a roof over the run yet, they flew out and she was taken by a hawk. All within hours.

It was a very sad thing for us. Now poor Donald is alone and really needs a friend.

Does anyone have any bantam silkie ducks? I've heard of them, but I can't find much information about them.

Curious, how hard are the call ducks to hatch out? I had someone tell me that they are very difficult to hatch and that they frequently need assistance? Is that true or do you need to hatch them under a higher humidity then chickens?

i had read that call ducks were tough to hatch too but it was because breeders are trying to get the bills really short on their good quality birds and it hampers their hatching ability! (must be why those duckies looks soooo cute when they get to be adults!)

Here are a few pictures of my ducks. I love them so much!
