I love all bantam ducks, and almost went for the calls when I first started looking into it, but after seeing the silky ducks and trying and failing to find more info, I thought it'd be a neat adventure. I had an ad on Craigslist, but can't find the email to delete the thing, so there it stays.

I am still getting inquiries, so I should be quite busy next year. I'll be offering hatching eggs as well, if all goes as planned. I really like the Black east indies, and may venture out in that direction in a few months time, so think of me should you get any eggs you want to sell.

My Valentines from my husband was my 10 silky ducks this year...that turned into 12. I wanted an even number of colors.

I have a warehouse that I keep a lot of fish and aquarium supplies, but it isn't open to the public. I closed my store when I moved to NC. It's a love I'll never totally get away from though.

Art just advertised in a recent issue of the Poultry Press, the most recent one I think, and he is an NCBA member.

Ok, sorry silkie fans, none at the show, it was pretty much all calls in the bantam section with about 10 pairs of east indies. However with that being said, my son now wants a pair of east indies.

I was actually disappointed in a lot of the show calls, they didn't even look cute, they just looked deformed. My son kept asking what was wrong with the ducks. Their bills were sooooo small with giant heads and they seemed to be not moving naturally almost like a stunted little hobble.

Don't know if I want to go that extreme in the calls. I just didn't find them appealing. But there were lots of colors there.

Yep, that's a good Call for ya!

That "stunted hobble" is due to tiny, short legs + fat, round body=MAJOR duck waddle.
Not all ducks appeal to all people, that's why I'm glad there are different kinds.
Of course, to those of us that are such big Call enthusiasts, our first thought is, "Yay, more Calls for us!".

Ya'll need to stop talking about those silkie ducks-I keep going over there and looking at them and they are just beautiful/adorable(especially those grays)! I just don't NEED another breed on this farm! Good thing they have a minimum of 10 or else, believe me, a pair would be on their way to Texas at the earliest possible date!
The EIs are beautiful-I satisfied that urge(sort of) with Self-Black Calls.

I know what you are talking about, because while I appreciate a good quality show Call, I have seen some at shows that are very extreme and turn me off as well. When they start looking overdone to where their parts don't fit well together into a whole picture, that's where I think things get too extreme. When I learner judged with horses, I was taught that the whole animal should present a pleasing picture and fit well together, and not have a "Mr. Potato Head" kind of look going on where certain parts just jump out to your eye to the point of distraction and not fitting with the big picture of the animal, and that is how I feel about ducks even though they are way different types of animals. When I see a Call that is overly cheeky to the point of looking sick with a sinus infection or like the duck is not able to see over his own cheeks, or the legs are such that it can barely walk, that definitely looks overdone to me. Thankfully, there are judges out there right now in the poultry hobby who will not pin animals in the ribbons when they start looking overdone to the point of disability, and I hope that continues. Several breeds of horses have congenital problems that go along with being overbred for certain traits, and I would hate to see that happen en masse to these cute little birds.
