Im backing up pips and peeps and jeremy on this one..Im sorry...something is wrong with her one of my Lav ameraucana pullets was like that and I put her down last week...although she ate and drank she did not grow properly at all...I was afraid that she would get eggbound..that and I couldn't use her for breeding..I knew eventually she would weaken and fall victim to whatever it was that was wrong..Im sorry

I imagine you wouldn't use her for breeding anyway, so just wait it out...if she's eating and drinking well, and otherwise happy thus far, give her time. She may have a genetic issue, of course that is a possibility as well, but wait and see how she manages with life.

I'm sorry-I'm not saying to put her down-that is what I did. I watched her for 16 weeks-I weighed her every week to make sure she was gaining some kind of weight-her feathers were growing but did not groomed. She wasn't even 1 lb when I put her down-I had just started to notice her weight was at a stand still and then down 1 ounce from the week before-and for a bird that didnt even weigh 1 lb-thats alot. I knew it was only going to get worse for her...Just pay attention to her weight-if you can weigh her weekly that will give you a clue..When you start to see her weight slip-then you'll know it's time. Mine was so little she was strating to get picked on too and I just couldn't let that happen-not that euhtanizing her was any better BUT it was better than watching her decline in hopes she was going to get better-I knew better

I just weighed her and she is a very tiny 1lb 2oz. I will track her weight weekly. Thanks for the tip sonew123

Well it's 8 days later and I just weighed her and she stayed the same at 1lb 2oz. No gain no loss. Not sure what is going on!
