I am looking at getting some bantams this spring. I was wondering which bantam breeds lay the largest eggs (as far as bantams go)? I was looking at cochin bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and d'uccles (I am wanting the biggest bantam eggs, so I am open to different breeds also). I want the bantams mostly as friendly pets, But it would be nice if my family could eat the bantam eggs and sell the eggs from the layers.

I have two cochin bantams and a bunch of regular size hens. The banty eggs are half the size of me others. There not tiny but small in comparison. Spot the banty egg!

Silkies by far lay the largest eggs of all bantams.
Thanks to hatcheries, Silkies are almost too large to classify as bantams.
I have a silkie, she is very small, but I can just barely distinguish her eggs from the other hens! (Well, they are all pullets of the same age, but they will be hens in May) excepting one hen who lays large odd eggs!

yea i'm planning on keeping silkies in my laying flock in hope of them going broody, And they are too big to classify as bantams in my opinion. I am only getting bantams if the silkies work out with my laying flock as they tend to be different. I am building a small coop this spring for bantams that I will get later this year, But the silkies might have to live in that coop
