Bantam eggs.

I will also give you some of the best links to help deal with potential issues. You can never be too prepared.

This guide will help you understand the hatching process and explains when and how to help if needed. One of the biggest mistakes of first time hatchers is panicking and assisting too soon. I suggest reading this so you can understand when and how to help, and have the knowledge to assist before an egg is in trouble, just in case, while you aren't panicking and are clear of mind. In my opinion confidence that you can handle what comes will help with hatch time stress.

Also chicks may have easily corrected toe or leg issues, especially if assisted. This link is for those issues.

That's fantastic. Thank you very much. Some bedtime reading for me now. Goodnight from England!

My bantams have hatched like clockwork on day 20. I have had great success with lockdown early on day 18. Good luck!! I have always been amazed at how advanced they are on candling early as well. I also cool things down by 1/2 to 1 degree on the last day or so.

Well it's early on day 18, so I've just filled the second water trough up, and gone into lockdown! Candled yesterday. They are all 'full' so to speak. Could see slight movement, but there's not much room left for them. Really exited now for hatch day! Ill be at work after today, until Friday so that should take my mind off it a bit. Really hope this batch do something. My last attempt was a total failure!

hope your hatch goes well

i've just hatched my first lot of eggs, some bantam orpingtons, and i had 7 healthy chicks out of 10 eggs...AND they were posted ones, as i got them from ebay

really hope this batch goes well for you. i've got quail eggs and duck eggs in the incubators now...it's so addictive!

It's extremely addictive! My problem now is that my husband organises shoots. Pheasants ect... And has asked if next time I can do some pheasants or quail. Don't think I want to do that, knowing the fate they'll have! Did your bantam eggs hatch on day 21? Heard they can be early due to the small size of the eggs.

no, mine hatched on days 22 and 23...the temp had been pretty steady i think, but i lost 3 to shrink wrapping

we're breeding quail as well for the first time, for their eggs and meat...just have to make sure i don't get attached to them!

good luck with yours

I don't know what to do!!! It's so warm here in the uk at the moment. The incubator was in the shed, just got back from wk and the temp had shot up to 104!! So I carefully lifted the incubator back into the house and realised one has pipped! It's day 19. I'm worried in case I've cooked it as it was trying to hatch! Humidity is up, and I've got the temp down to 100 now. Just a waiting game I recon!

oh no! i hope it's ok...make sure you post on here when they've hatched so i know!

i'm in the UK as well and it's red hot here for a change...shouldn't really moan, it makes a change from all the flippin rain!

I've just shown my little girl the eggs, and it started cheeping!! Keeping my fingers crossed. The cat will be staying out tonight now! That's why I'd moved the incubator into the shed to start with. Yes, we shouldn't complain about the nice weather, but when it interferes with my hatching it does not impress me! Ha ha! Will keep you updated
