Bantam Grab bag special. What do you think they are? Newer 1 wk PICS

I took new pics of chicks (now 1 week old)

I figured this is kinda fun and the suspense is awesome. I like surprises. I don't peek at my presents either! But I do occasionally shake them and try to guess what it is. You never really know for sure until you unwrap it...and it sometimes is nothing that you thought it was (unless you peeked

). I figure that is what I am doing with the chicks and the pics......just metaphorically speaking "shaking them a bit".

Plus I will have these pics of the different stages.

Today I was moving them from their brooder to a new clean one and as I moved each one I dashed out my front door and tried to take a decent pic. I had to hurry and hope my one snap for each was good enough. I didn't want them to get cold.

I use pine shavings in their brooders....so the small specs of stuff on them are dust and little pieces of it.

Here goes...

What age do you think they should be for easier id? I figures by 10 weeks.....but these are my first bantams......anything I should know? I still haven't lost a one so must be doing ok.

Does your standard have a pea comb or a regular comb? It looks like a Light Brahma to me, if it has a pea comb, it definately is!

I see... a Partidge Cochin, Buff Brahmas, Gold Sebright, Dark Brahma, Barred Rocks, Buff Cochin, Black Rosecombs, Old English Games, a Quail Antwerp Belgian, a white Japanese? and some stuff that I have no idea on.

I believe it is a pea comb. LOL I just kept chickens for fun and food....... until recently I had no clue there were so many types and difference. I just loved my eggs for breakfast!

This one has no ridges on it ...very smooth and doesn't protrude unlike the lil babies with ridges. Is that pea comb? Standard is single comb with ridges right? I am still learning.....hard for me to tell on the babies.

Thanks!

I lost a chick. First chick ever I had die on me. I don't know...looks fine, no pecks, just dead. They were all fine a couple hours ago. I suppose I am lucky. I have raised over 100 day old chicks and never lost a one until now. They are 1 week and 2 days old.... I guess odds were against me.

So 26 still kicking.........

You said that you use cedar shavings? I'm not 100% sure, but I've always heard that you're not suppossed to use cedar because it could be toxic if they ingest too much. Not sure if that's what happened with the chick you just lost, but I would replace the cedar with pine shavings just in case. Sorry you lost one anyway.

I checked bag...it's PINE shavings...not sure why the heck I wrote ceder...... the bag says "pine wood shavings livestock bedding". thank you for catching that. I already feel kind of dumb for writing it. I will edit. Thanks!
