as to your two baby chicks: all they need, besides chick starter ration and water, is a heat source such as a brooder lamp to keep them warm at night. At their age (4 weeks) they need around 80 degrees. If they are all feathered in, they may be fine with 70 degrees. And if your weather is reall warm during the day, you may only need to turn the heat on for the night. Otherwise your little ones should be fine without their mother.
