I just set 27 Bantam Lavender Ameraucana eggs into my incubator. I am thrilled about the possibility of hatching some of these beautiful little birds! I traded some of my eggs for these BLA eggs and only just realized that I do not really understand how to breed them to keep the Lavender color. I "think", if I understand correctly, I am going to need a bantam black Ameraucana rooster to breed any hens that I might get back to.

Before I go looking for birds or hatching eggs to buy, does anyone have a link to a tutorial about this or have the ability to wrap it all up neatly and succinctly in a post to help me understand?

I will appreciate and be grateful for all help, believe me!

Thanks!

Deb

If they are straight lavender, lavender to lavender will produce all lavender chicks. If they are splits, meaning they are black but carry the lavender gene, you will get ummm, crap, cant find my table thingy. If they hatch out lavender, they are pure lavender, not split for lavender. If any hatch out black, they may or may not be splits and carry the lavender gene. Hopefully someone will come along and give you the percentages.
