I have learned a bit about it, because I would love to do autosexing chicks in the future… but I just would not know what to do with the males!! That is the only downside of hatching chicks that are sexable at hatch!@Slothinc already had the info downloaded, lol.
I could see that being a problem. At least if you're not sure at hatch you treat them all the same and the A-holes will show themselves soon enough.I have learned a bit about it, because I would love to do autosexing chicks in the future… but I just would not know what to do with the males!! Ummm . . . . that's how I ended up with the batch of new chicks. My friend was at TSC getting feed for his goats while I was on the phone. He mentioned he was picking up bantams to feed his snake since they were $1 each . . . and well . . . now I have 26 chicks, lol.Make friends with a snake-keeper?
Talk to a zoo or someone who does wildlife rehab?
Use them for pet food?
(Yes, all of those are based on the idea of humanely dispatching the fluffy little male chicks, then using the bodies instead of wasting them: similar to the idea of raising the males to eat, but much earlier, and they get eaten by something that does not mind how small they are.)
He also ended up releasing the snake, lol.Ummm . . . . that's how I ended up with the batch of new chicks. My friend was at TSC getting feed for his goats while I was on the phone. I doubt it. His boys caught it in their yard. I'm not a fan, so I didn't get details.Hope it wasn't an exotic...
