I have a white Bantam pair with me from a year. The Hens stops for sometimes and then start lying eggs. Why is she not getting Broody?Other problem is that almost 50 % of the eggs are fertile when i hatch them.
Has she been broody before? There's no guarantee that a hen will go broody. I've had many hens from breeds that are well known for broodiness that have never gone broody.
I think the main desired trait of your local breeds isn't egg-laying capacity. Broodiness has been bred out of a number of breeds to keep the number of eggs laid up as high as possible. Do you know what breed your bantams are?
Leme get a pic for you.I tried her eggs under a hen.Out of 13 only 1 hatched.Twice the eggs were not fertile. In Incubator the hatchability is around 50 %.
They look like japanese black tailed white bantams. Try asking for advice on the thread dedicated to that breed in the Breeds, Genetics, & Showing section.
