I ordered Columbian Rock and/ or silver pencilled bantams from a well known breeder. I was late (Feb) to be assured of the columbians, so agreed to wait until mid-May to either receive the columbians, the pencilled or a combination of both. Last email with breeder was 4/29 and they said my chicks were scheduled for 5/17. I waited until Weds. of that week to email breeder to make sure they were not lost in the mail, got no response. After 3 emails last week I called and finally talked to them. They said some were hatching that day (Weds.), but they hadn't looked to see if any that I wanted had hatched. They stated they had two weeks of bad hatches. I was told they would let me know either way, if I was getting them or not. Ok, so I completely understand if I don't get them, I just want to know. Originally I had considered getting bantam wyandottes or rocks as a trio in the fall. I can get silver pencilled Rocks from McMurray yet, but that window closes in about two weeks. I really wanted to start some bantams this year. Do you think I will have luck finding a trio of breeder birds in the fall of either of the rocks, or perhaps wyandottes? I figure I am up against a deadline on reserving them also. I waffle between forgetting it until next year and I want chicks NOW! I am open to most varieties of Rocks (not barred) and most of the bantam wyandottes also. Can anyone give me any leads on breeders where I may still be able to get a trio in the fall? I first will get a definite answer of whether I am out of luck on my original chicks. Thanks
