About 3 weeks ago, I noticed one of our bantam roosters was acting off. His comb isn’t as bright as it usually is and he isn’t 100% of his perky self. He also seems to have trouble pooping. He’ll stand very upright and make strange noises while straining to poop, he does manage to get the poop out though. He still has a good appetite and drinks plenty of water, but he’s definitely a little lethargic. We finally caught him last night and had him sit in warm water and carefully picked the poop that was stuck to his feathers and skin off. When a piece of stuck poop was removed he shot poop everywhere. He was wrapped up in a towel until he was fully dried and then placed in a crate where he pooped again but without as much difficulty. The poop has kinda a sour smell to it. I’m not sure what’s causing this or how to go about treating it, hence why I came here after my research led to nothing. Any ideas? What can I do for the poor little guy?
