bantam/standard cross = medium???

That thread helped some, but also confused me more

Is it a form of dwarfism? Like in people, a couple can have a dwarf child, and the percentage chance of that raises if one or both parents have dwarfism? So a bantam/standard cross would not be like a 7ft tall man and a 5ft tall woman having a kid somewhere in between?

I had a standard ameraucana hen who mated with my lil white cochin bantam, the chick was standard in size when fully grown. I tend to agree with the egg size determining the chick size too until I read the genetics thread.

I don't have an answer yet, about adult size but I hatched 18 bantam eggs two weeks ago. The hens were beautiful feather footed Banty's and the roosters were mixed breeds of some heavy layer stock. Out of the 18 only three have the beautiful feathered feet. They are all pale yellow with black spotted wings except one is more buff colored still with the black spots. They are smaller than the standard chicks that hatched at the same time and now I am noticing that they are being picked on too. I guess they will be at the bottom of the pecking order.

I had a trio of Jap/Standard game crosses.

The hens had short legs and were "big bantam" size. They had the big tails like japs also. They both set and raised their eggs at a very early age.
The rooster looked like a black star hen with a burnt orange mottled chest and brittle colored back feathers. I forgot what those are called. And a pretty green tail

He was larger then the hens, like the medium size yall are talking about.

I have 3 pullets that are out of Sex Link hens and a Booted Bantam roo. They are almost 6 months old and are just a little smaller than my standard hens.
They have feathery legs, and look just like my standard hens. I can't wait to see what size their eggs will be.

P.S. I have just put some Bantam Silkie eggs in my incubator, I used my almost 9 pound BO roo. I'm amazed how he learned to adapt to such small hens (he looks very ridicules teetering on top of them), every egg I've checked has a bulls eye, so I know he is doing the job.

I currently have a Blue Sex-link EE bantam hen and a Dark Brahma standard Rooster. I've seen him mate with my EE so I believe her eggs are fertilized. I'm going to incubate some of her eggs and see what happens. I'll update everyone here what I get from the incubator. Wish me luck.
