Bantam X Standard cross IS POSSIBLE!

For anyone who's ever wondered...can a bantam rooster successfully breed a standard size hen?

the answer is YES!

This is a pic of my "Delawelle" chick that hatched yesterday.

The father is "Sammy", my bantam Salmon Favorelle rooster in my avatar.
And this is the hen that the egg came from:

You can't really see it in the pic, but the chick has very light feathering on it's legs.

I separated Sammy from the standard flock shortly after collecting this egg...so unfortunately, I don't expect to have anymore cuties like this one.

But if this chicks grows up to be too cute for words, then I may have to dedicate a Delaware hen back to him.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Perhaps Sammy has a step ladder hidden under the coop.

Cute little booties! I thought is was a cruddy photo at first but after staring at it I went, AWWWWW!
Congrats! Anytime you get bored of the chickes you can send em to me!
