Bantams in winter

Never had problems with my tiny Dutch. Must say our winters are not cold as on the east coast of the US. Accustomed to cold winters for a few chicken-generations most bantams wil do fine. Only small Seramas need warmth if temperatures drop below zero.

I would certainly not insulate the coop. If you get a mite (red bird mite) infestation in the coop it’s inpossible to get rid of them if they get into the isolation.

Maybe you can put up an old window under an angle (or something else) against the snow and cold winds coming in? I did that and it helps against rain coming in on rainy and windy days.
