Bantams

I posted this question over in egg hatching land but realize now that it may be more appropriate over in this section. Where do bantams come from? Are they selectively bred from the LF to be smaller and smaller until the desired size is made? Thanks.

there are some breeds of bantams that are TRUE bantams.....they started out that size. Then there are various other breeds, that started from lg fowl, that are now smll (but not as tiny as the true breeds).

some true bantams: Nankins, Japanese, Dutch, D'Uccle and sebrights

some Miniature Fowl that are called "bantams": cochins, RI reds, wyandottes, orpington, Old English Game bantam
