Thanks for the replies, everyone! She seems about the same, but I've started using some eye ointment today. As mentioned before, there's no sneezing, runny noses, breathing difficulties, eye discharge or eye gunk involved. It literally looks like the tissue surrounding the eye under the eyelid has swollen up.
I had some worries that it might be because of her breed. Maybe it's a silly and ignorant comparison to make, but I know that since some squat-faced dog breeds have trouble with their eyes and faces, perhaps other types of animals subjected to the same sort of breeding might have similar eye/breathing troubles.
