Barbu de Watermael thread?

Pics
I think Jasper is a blue quail.
I will try to get updated pictures. I was talking to the person with Kristen Garrison's watermael. I didn't think you had watermael, but I do know you have stunning barbu d'anvers, very very beautiful ones indeed.

I will assemble individual photos taken with the DSLR of each bird, labeled with their names, so critique of their shape and color is easier for everyone. I would like to have babies from Agate and my girls next year. This is my first time having a rooster and hatching any babies, so I will want to learn as much as I can along the way. Barbu de watermael should have the popularity the barbu d'uccle enjoys!

My birds are from Australia which means I have an interesting blood line. I hope I can interest someone locally with any babies I hatch next year.

Oh, ok. I don’t have Watermael, though I assumed you meant the color of my d’Anvers, though not the breed.

Did you get any blue quail hens?

Pearl is supposedly a blue quail, the other girl, Amber, is a quail buff columbian cross. So her color isn't "show". She's just interesting to look at and brings a different flavor to the colors in my flock. :)

You can definitely see the d’anver colors in the watermael and the spunky personality. Do you have pictures of your blue quail d’anver? Most blue ones I’ve seen are with the red being more yellow color and the tail and wing feathers are blue.

@SarahLadd
So why did one of your hen not have a tail? Are your chickens able to see well with the crown of feathers?
Molted them all off, I'm assuming new ones will replace them that will be bigger and better.

You know, I'm not sure how much all that floof affects their vision. They seem very alert to things flying above them. They alerted and immediately found cover when a hawk so far up in the sky it was a barely visible speck drifted over. They peck things accurately from my fingertips. I'm going to say yes they all see just fine, even the ones that look like they can't. If chicken's eyes faced forward like ours on their heads, I think they'd be blind as bats.
